At the beginning of September 2021, Oppo presented smartphones from the Reno 6 series. Two models are available in Poland: OPPO Reno6 Pro 5G and OPPO Reno6 5G.Both smartphones are equipped with innovative video features, including an enhanced version of the highly appreciated AI Highlight Video feature, and a brand new feature - Bokeh Flare Portrait Video, providing cinematic background blur effect. What distinguishes the Reno 6 series is a very unique design - the backs look as if they were sprinkled with ice crystals. However, the appearance is not everything. What else does the new Reno 6 Pro offer, which has recently fallen into my hands?About it in the review below.I invite you to read. The construction of the Reno 6 Pro is an improved version of the previous model, the Reno 5. We also have a similarly arranged glass island with cameras and shiny backs. The difference is that the new model shimmers even more.It uses a new type of finish, which the manufacturer called Reno Glow. The manufacturer describes it as follows:“OPPO Reno Glow is the recognizable design of the series. After more than a year, OPPO has perfected its production process consisting of almost 50 complex steps. The latest version of OPPO Reno Glow was inspired by the natural phenomenon of snow crystallization at freezing point, which in effect makes millions of tiny "snowflakes" sparkle on the glass casing of each phone from the Reno6 Series. They emit a soft glow, flickering depending on the arrangement of light and shadow. What's more, the improved process has improved the feeling of smooth texture on the back of the phones by 30%, and no fingerprints are left on their covers. The OPPO Reno Glow effect is available on the OPPO Reno6 Pro 5G smartphones in blue and graphite, and on the OPPO Reno6 5G smartphones in blue and black. "And I must admit that it looks phenomenal live.Especially the blue version, which shimmers beautifully in the sun.It is impossible to pass by this model indifferently. In addition, it practically does not touch, and the matte housing prevents it from slipping out of your hand.If it were not for the slightly protruding cameras, I would not even think about putting on an additional case on my back.Such a silicone case can be found in the packaging and it is up to us to decide whether we will put it on or not.The Reno 6 Pro is really our choice, not a necessity. You can see that this model is very well refined in every detail - distinctive backs, metal frame, slightly rounded glass (Gorilla Glass 5) on the front of the screen.Everything fits together in it, nothing creaks, nothing sticks out.It is a pity that the housing has not received any water or dust resistance certificate. This should be the norm in this class of smartphone. On the bottom of the housing you will find a microphone, a multimedia speaker (there is a stereo, the other one is in the speaker for calls), a USB C socket and a tray for 2 Nano-SIM cards (without a slot for additional memory ☹).There are volume buttons on the left edge, and on / off switch on the right. The buttons are made in the color of the frame (silver), and the ON / OFF has an additional green accent. Most importantly, they are placed at a good height, they are clear to the touch and react very well to all clicks. The smartphone does not have a 3.5 mm mini jack headphone output, which will probably not please some potential users. But we have a pretty good stereo speaker at our disposal. The sound is clean, clear and very pleasant to the ear.Additionally, we can also turn on the Dolby Atmos system. However, I did not notice much difference between Dolby Atmos turned on and turned off. When we want to use headphones, we have to buy an appropriate adapter or connect via BT.The dimensions of the Reno 6 Pro are: 160.8 mm x 72.5 mm x 7.99 mm.Weight is about 188 g (including the battery). The phone is very slim and quite light, and most importantly, it fits well in the hand (even without the case), and all the buttons on the side frames are exactly where they should be: the power button under the thumb, the volume buttons within the reach of the index finger.One-handed operation, due to its size, is not the most comfortable.Oppo Reno 6 Pro, has been equipped with a 6.5-inch curved 3D AMOLED display (slightly rounded sides) with FHD + resolution 2400 × 1080, 402 ppi and brightness: 500 nits (typical) (with a maximum of 800 nits in sunlight (typical ) and a peak brightness of 1100 nits). Here, the screen covers 92.1% of the front of the phone and has a small round hole in the top left corner where we find a selfie camera - 32 MPx (f / 2.4).The screen is also HDR10 + certified. The image, of course, looks as correct as possible on it.The colors are very clear and highly saturated, the white is clearly white and the black is deep. You can also not complain about the viewing angles or the brightness of the screen.A nice addition is also the 90 Hz refresh, although in this price range I would expect 120 Hz.In addition, the AMOLED display provides intensity and faithfulness to natural shades. In addition, the edges of the fonts are sharp, and the whole is legible and clear. You can comfortably work with all kinds of documents and it is trouble-free to use the smartphone screen while browsing your favorite websites.I would like to add that the smartphone also has a blue light reduction function (mode: Eye Comfort), and in the options we can additionally change the color temperature (cold, default, warm) and turn on the dark mode, which has 3 variants: enhanced (the background is black), medium (background is dark gray) and delicate (background is light gray). Thanks to this, we can enter the next level of personalization of our screen. The smartphone also received Netflix and Amazon Prime Video certificates, as well as SGS Eye Care Display certificates as screens that are safe for the eyesight of users. The phone does not have a notification LED, but it has an option called "always active screen", in which we can set one of the many built-in clocks and, most importantly, notifications from all applications appear on it.As standard, we can also turn on gesture support or leave the standard bottom bar with buttons.Everyone can easily find their favorite navigation configuration. We can also turn on the intelligent sidebar or split screen mode.In Oppo Reno 6 Pro, in addition to the standard unlocking functions, such as a pin, pattern or password, we will of course find a fingerprint reader that is placed on the screen and the ability to unlock the phone by scanning the face (less secure version).Face unlock works quickly and usually flawlessly (except in places with low light). It is similar with the fingerprint reader - it works very quickly and correctly. The reader itself is placed at a good height and, what's more, it also appears on the off screen when motion is detected, which makes it easier to point your finger at it more precisely. In the Reno 6 Pro, we may not find the best flagship processor at the moment, but there are also no major reasons to complain here.We find the following configuration:Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ 870 with the main core Kryo 585 also provides high quality mobile entertainment thanks to clock speeds up to 3.2 GHz.It is not a Snapdragon 888, but it is close to it.The tested model also has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, as well as the RAM + technology developed by OPPO.This means that in the event of a shortage of RAM memory, it can be supplemented on this model with an additional 3GB / 5GB / 7GB of ROM, which means that even with many applications running simultaneously, the smartphone is still supposed to run smoothly. And in fact it is so.In everyday use, everything worked quickly and without major shortness of breath.Applications opened smoothly, and too many of them did not cause any problems.Usually, I had several applications running - mail, social media, and the camera.I never got stuck or choked. In Antutu, he obtained over 672 thousand.points.Yes, when we give him a hard time, we will also feel a higher temperature on our backs, but not enough to make it any relative inconvenience. At least I failed to overheat it.The smartphone is managed by the Android version 11 and the ColorOS 11.3 overlay. The said overlay has retained all the most popular features of Android 11, and at the same time guarantees the possibility of individual user interface customization, greater efficiency, smooth operation and improved privacy features. This system has been with us long enough that I don't need to introduce it too much. Now everyone is looking at ColorOS 12 on Android 12.As for the operation of the system, I did not notice any major problems here.Applications opened without unnecessary delays or problems.Likewise, switching between open applications was quick and very smooth. The Reno 6 Pro includes the following connectivity modules:And support for 5G networks on SIM 1 card:When using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or GPS, I did not notice any problems.I used GPS most often when I wanted to find my way during walks in Warsaw or Wrocław.The smartphone was always quick to find the route I was looking for and led me straight to my destination.I sent a lot of photos via Bluetooth and I had no problems here as well.Of course, the phone has NFC and supports the 5G network.Unfortunately, only on one SIM card.SIM 2 only supports 4G.With the current development of the 5G network, it may not matter much, but in a year or two it probably will.Oppo Reno 6 Pro received 2 batteries with a capacity of 2250 mAh (together it is 4500 mAh) and fast charging Super VOOC 2.0 - 65 W. This allows you to replenish the battery from 0 to 100% in about 35 minutes.Good system optimization and processor work means that the smartphone should easily work on a single charge for about 1.5 - 2 days.I didn't even see much difference with the 90Hz adaptive refresh on and the standard 60Hz refresh. This may be due to the fact that many applications are still working in the 60 Hz screen refresh mode anyway. When we put a lot of effort into and use the phone intensively all the time, we will look for a charger at the end of the day. However, half an hour of rest and we can continue to play.Let's just forget about inductive charging. We won't find him here. Finally, standard cameras. In Oppo Reno 6 Pro we find the following lens configuration:Expensive Oppo 2 Mpx macro camera?Really?I understand that such a clogged lens is inserted into smartphones below PLN 1000, but in this price range it should not be the case.Unfortunately, this lens does not give nice photos and their usefulness is also low. They are not even suitable for posting on social media. So please stop using this lens.It would be better if he wasn't there or think about the min.5 Mpx.The macro can also be done with the x2 zoom so removing this lens is no loss.So much for whining. When it comes to the main lens, I have nothing to complain about here. The photos are correct, with nice colors and very detailed. At times there are over-glare or burnouts, but this is nothing that you cannot control. It is also worth paying attention to the new "Bokeh Portrait" mode, which allows you to get pretty nice portraits with a nice background for the eye.Especially at night, in a place where we have lights, it makes a great impression, but ... Well, it is a small but.Namely, you can see that the photo is heavily processed, which gives the impression that the background is too cut off from the figure. It is clearly visible mainly at night. There is a similar effect on movies as well.Nevertheless, the direction is very good. The night mode, on the other hand, gains in quality with each installment of the new Reno.Especially in nicely lit places you can see a lot of details and nice colors. It is not an overexposed photo, and on the other hand, it is bright and detailed enough to make a positive impression. After switching to the wide angle, the quality drops a bit and you can see noise in darker places. You can also see a slightly changed colors compared to the main lens.Blue is more intense and yellow is warmer.A nice addition is the wide-angle night mode. It's nice that Oppo thought about the tele module.Recently, it somehow often falls out of some manufacturers. We have a magnification of x2 here and we can confidently use it also for macro photos.Digital zoom is up to x20, but it's more of a curiosity than something useful. Here are some pics from this phone:As for movies, it's pretty good.We can record shots:At 4K @ 60fps / 30fps, 1080P @ 60fps, we won't switch to the wide-angle lens.We can only do this at 1080P 30fps.Ultra stabilization works only at 1080P @ 60fps.It is not in 4K.So it's best to record movies in FHD 60 fps.A very nice option is also Dual-View Video (allows you to record simultaneously from the rear and front camera), the option of brightening movies, which is based on AI (AI Highlight Video) and the new Bokeh Flare Portrait Video option. The latter is a novelty in the Reno series smartphones. It allows you to get a very nice effect of blurring the background and lights.Works great both during the day and at night.Although in the latter case, it feels a bit artificial. It is equally impressive and offers potential for further development of this function.Oppo Reno 6 Pro is a very interesting smartphone with a good and efficient processor, a large amount of RAM and ROM, fast charging and, above all, a very nice one (the crystals look mega enough) with slightly improved functions in the camera. But is it enough to pay PLN 3699 for it?A big competition for him will be, for example, Samsung S21 (it has, for example, induction charging, waterproof certificates or a better screen) or Xiaomi Mi 11 (better processor, induction charging, better screen, better macro and main lens). And in slightly cheaper models, you could also choose from here.Nevertheless, if you think that this smartphone meets your requirements, take it boldly, because the sum total is a very decent device, although not the best in its class. What is missing from this phone is:Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. The website uses Akismet to reduce spam.Find out more about how comment data is processed.Do you use a smartphone behind the wheel?Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the website to function properly. This category only includes cookies that ensures basic functionalities and security features of the website. These cookies do not store any personal information.Any cookies that may not be particularly necessary for the website to function and is used specifically to collect user personal data via analytics, ads, other embedded contents are termed as non-necessary cookies. It is mandatory to procure user consent prior to running these cookies on your website.
