The bridge has been hit dozens of times.

Sing it with us: Do do do...another one bites the dust.

The sturdy Independence Avenue Bridge in Kansas City, Missouri remains undefeated.

The Kansas City Police Department said yet another large truck struck the bridge Friday morning, shearing off the top of its trailer.

"The Independence Avenue Bridge loves meals on wheels," a police department spokesperson said in a social media post Friday.

While there were no injuries in this wreck, there was quite a mess left behind.

And, the Independence Avenue Bridge remains the unquestioned champion.

City officials hope the day will soon come that a solution is found for the famously low underpass at the Independence Avenue Bridge in the form of a warning system. Its 12-foot clearance is lower than average, and unsuspecting truck drivers following GPS and not paying attention to signage fall victim to it quite often.

The city says trucks have been hitting it as long as the bridge has been there. Now, the city is working with Kansas City Terminal Railroad, which owns the bridge, to install a warning system with plastic tubes to let truck drivers know if they can clear it before they get to it. When a truck hits the tubes, they make a loud warning noise.

The city said it is just a matter of drivers knowing how tall their vehicle is when they go under the bridge.

City officials said they hope to secure funds for the warning system later this year.
